It was an honor to be chosen by my long time friend Megan to photograph her and Mike’s wedding at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She and I (David) were students together at the Fine Arts Center in Greenville. We had a beautiful (and slightly windy) day for some great wedding photos at Thornblade Country Club before the reception.
Mike is a US Army Veteran and currently serves in the Army Reserves, so we got to make a few photographs with him in uniform. My favorite part of the day was when Megan sang to Mike, followed by she and Mike doing a duet of Tonic’s “If You Could Only See” with Mike on the guitar backed by the Erica Berg Collective Band.
This year also marks a very special time for Megan’s grandparents as their 70th wedding anniversary. Mike and Megan surprised them with a special anniversary cake which they cut together. The longest married couple and newlyweds danced together…a touching moment for all, and such a special surprise for Megan’s Grandparents.
It’s clear in the pictures how photogenic Megan is (which she apparently gets from her mom), but it was Megan’s dad who was the emotional one. You should’ve seen him fighting back the happy tears as he danced with his daughter!
Erica and the band kicked off the party, then Erica busted out the dance moves and got everyone back out on the floor until the very end. This is when things get really interesting to photograph…obviously everyone was having a great time, especially Elizabeth 🙂 (Who might kill me for saying that).
Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Carter!
