knew it was going to be a fun wedding ceremony when Jessie walked down the aisle to Smashing Pumpkins’ Today.
Music and food were common themes throughout. Andy Lewis (who happened to be an old friend of mine) is the Senior Pastor at Mitchell Road Presbyterian church and officiated the ceremony.
During the homily, Rev. Lewis found an appropriate way to include references to several songs including Joni Mitchell – A Case of You, The Beatles – Love Me Do, and even Bon Jovi – You Give Love a Bad Name. While pointing out that marriage is something that requires work and time to perfect, and “slow cooking” the relationship is preferable to “microwaving” the marriage…(the analogy was more well crafted in Andy’s words.) He went on to note that sometimes the marriage would be really good, “much like a meal at American Grocery”, and other days could seem “a little more like Red Lobster.”
The weather cleared up just in time for us to get a few shots outside the museum before the reception.
The Bridesmaids carried personalized clutches.
Having a wedding reception at The Children’s Museum of the Upstate has it’s perks. This was perhaps the most unique environment we’ve encountered at a wedding reception. Guests were free to roam around the museum and “be kids again” while enjoying the hands-on exhibits.
