We met Jack and Jill over 3 years ago when we photographed Jill’s family for Christmas cards. At that time Jack was “the boyfriend.” We were thrilled to find out that they were later engaged and were so excited to be asked to photograph their wedding. Jack and Jill and their families were so hospitable to us during our time with them and really treated us like family. There’s an added layer of enjoyment when we get to photograph couples with whom we’ve had a long relationship…it’s like being with friends on their wedding day.

This was our first time photographing a wedding at The Fields of Blackberry Cove in Weaverville, NC, and what an inspiring place! There’s a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and a charming barn with a cozy feel. A little to our surprise, the rain hardly stopped all day! We actually expected it to only rain for about half the day, but it only let up for about 10 minutes. Jill was so excited to marry Jack, it didn’t even phase her! Sure, it would have been nice to venture out around the property a bit, but actually the rainy day gave us an opportunity for some unique photos, and ALL the guests obviously had a BLAST!

In addition to the barn, there is a charming lodge just up the hill that has been built specifically to accommodate an indoor wedding ceremony. We were able to photograph some “getting ready” shots of the girls and guys in and around the lodge before the wedding.

There was only a slight drizzle, so we took Jack out side the lower part of the building while Jill stood on the balcony of the bridal suite so we could get both of them in a photo together without them seeing each other.

The cozy lodge was a perfect place for an indoor wedding. With all of the windows, you could still get a nice feel for the beautiful outdoor environment and still stay dry. It’s actually quite roomy and was more than enough space for an intimate wedding ceremony. To add to the coziness, there was even hot apple cider available for the guests.

A short walk down the hill is a rustic barn decorated in strand lighting where Jack and Jill were greeted by their guests and enjoyed their first dance. The delicious food was prepared on site by the staff of The Fields of Blackberry Cove.

The guests were asked to “leaf a mark” on Jack and Jill’s wedding tree, a great alternative to a guest registry.

Of course, Mason Jars for beverages are the perfect choice for a bride who wears cowgirl boots under her wedding dress! There are so many cool things you can do with a barn wedding.

The rain didn’t stop us from getting everyone outside for a few more photos…it wasn’t raining too hard, but the umbrellas came in handy.
